Production Engineer I | Marathon Oil | Cody, WY
The Byron / Garland field is located 40 miles east of Cody, Wyoming.
Current production exceeds 4500 bbls of oil daily with approximately
2MMcf/d associated gas. Recent drilling programs in the field have been
successful and are providing good opportunities for future work. There
is also an active workover and re-stimulation program in the field which
employs 2 to 4 workover/completion rigs on a continuous basis. All of
the oil wells produce with artificial lift, either electric submersible
pump or sucker rod systems. The field engineer must be self-motivated,
have a very strong commitment to environmental and safety performance
and be a team player.
Although this position is for Byron / Garland , there are eight other
fields in the Rocky Mountain operations that this position may also
support.
- Promote a positive and constructive workplace. Interact with other
team members in a manner that will help build trust and respect and
achieve set goals.
- Conduct business with the highest regard for safety and environmental
protection. Ensure
compliance with all company policies, procedures and plans along with
local, state and
federal regulations.
- Help reach production goals by utilizing engineering and automation
tools/software
(WAM, DSS, DIMS, Excel queries, etc) to optimize production. Organize
and lead frequent
well reviews with field operators, engineering counterparts and
production supervisors.
This will include failure analysis reviews as well as production
reviews.
- Participate in expense optimization in the areas of artificial lift,
workovers and daily
production operations.
- Be proactive in continuous learning in all areas, especially emerging
technology and daily
field operations.
- Provide relief for workover supervisor as needed.
- Identify workover, stimulation and re-stimulation candidates. Develop
procedures for the
work including stimulation design and modeling. Also assist workover
supervisor with
on-site supervision as needed.
- Design new or modified artificial lift systems as required to
optimize production rates.
- Assist with small scale facilities projects on an as needed basis.
- Assist in expense and capital project budget preparation and review.
This includes
identification of potential projects along with associated costs and
incremental production
volumes.
- Assist with implementation of expense and capital budget projects as
they pertain to wells within assigned area of responsibility.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree: Bachelor's required
- Major Discipline: Petroleum engineering or related degree required
- Years Experience Required: Two to five years in production or reservoir
engineering is preferred. Experience or familiarity with waterflooding,
production optimization tools, artificial lift and stimulation design
would be beneficial.
- Computer Proficiencies: Excel and Word required. WAM, TOW, ARIES, DIMS,
DSS, and GOFHER would be a plus.
- Certifications: None required, Well Control certification a plus
